It has been gathered that the beef was being transported to Udupi from Kadlur. The operation followed a tip off from the activist of a right wing organisation who grew suspicious on seeing the Omni and a person who arrived there in a two-wheeler reportedly to purchase beef.

Sources said two men in the  vehicle fled while Abdul who had come to purchase beef was arrested. Police said the  sandalwood blocks were hidden under the beef  in a storage compartment of the vehicle.

The Kota police are on the lookout for the two accused who have escaped.
