Illegal Trading: Two held, Tobacco products worth 8 lakhs seized

Kasargod, Oct 05, 2016 : Officials of excise department detain two  persons engaged in illegal trading of banned tobacco products on October 04, Tuesday, at Badiadka in Kasargod.

 

The accused arrested are Hariprasad (22) of Yethadka and Sandesh of Arlapadav near Konaje.


On credible information the officials raided the godown in Badiadka.  They have seized tobacco products such as pan masala, gutka etc worth Rs 8 lakhs , packed  in plastic sacks in large quantities.  The officials had information about the trading of chewing tobacco form Karnataka,  had seized in Kanhangad  recently.


The officer said that Kasargod has become a center for all such illegal activities.Investigations are under way.
