Ijas murder case: Seven persons taken into custody

Mangalure, Nov 1, 2014: Police have taken seven persons into custody in connection with the brutal murder of a youth named Ijas alias Ijja (28) of Kannur near Adyar in a saloon at Kannur on  October 31, Friday.

 

The arrested are Riaz alias Zia (30), resident of Adyarkatte, Mohammad Fazal (20), resident of Ganadabettu, Musthaq (30), resident of Yousufnagar,  Mohammad Aniz (22), Hasanabba (29) and Azmal (21) and Mazid (21) residents of Kannur. Several machetes and a car was also seized by the Police.

 

Sources have revealed that his murder might be an act of retaliation. Four men who had barged into the saloon where Ijas had been for shaving, had brutally hacked him with machetes before fleeing in a car.

Ijas  was reportedly involved in drugs trafficking and might have been killed by a rival gang which was closely watching his movements and eliminated him when he had entered the saloon.
