Prashant’s simple device that works on Radio Frequency Identification Principle can easily detect fake number plates. It has a tiny chip which should be attached to the original number  plate, with a pre-programmed memory regarding the details of the vehicle owner. In case  authorities have an element of doubt they can just use a hand held reader and that’s it-It can detect if the number plate is fake or original.

Another aspect is that if a number plate  attached with this tiny chip is either removed or replaced by another fake number plate, then the engine of the vehicle will automatically stop  functioning, thanks to the wireless identification system based on radio waves.

Prashanth,  partner of United Seven Technology intends to hold a demonstration of his new device before  officials of the Transport Department. If this simple device is made mandatory for all vehicle number plates, it would make the task of the cops in identifying vehicles with fake number plates much easier, he adds.

Prashanth  says he has spent Rs 15000 on developing this device.
