ISRO to help fishermen in DK

Mangalore, March 17: Ramachandra Baikampady, President of the Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation, has said that the KFDC will shortly be entering into an agreement with the ISRO with the aim to work towards the satellite mapping of the Indian Exclusive Economic zone.  Fishermen are expected to greatly benefit from this project which would help them identify areas with larger fish catch, using the ISRO’s satellite guided technology.

As many as 200 fishing boats in the coastal belt is expected to benefit from the project as the fishermen will be able to use modern gadgets like GPS, echo-sounders and fish finders.


Ramachandra Baikampady also said the government has sanctioned Rs 2 crore for this project which is likely to be launched next month.
