Mangaluru, Feb 18,2017: : Income Tax department and Enforcement Directorate (ED) should file a suo motu case against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa for misusing its name, said Ivan D’Souza, chief whip of the government in state legislative council.

Ivan told reporters on Thursday that Yeddyurappa’s statements to media referring IT raid and seizures of documents is a challenge to the I-T department. "IT department and ED should register a suo motu case and conduct investigations against Yeddyurappa. CM Siddaramaiah has already countered Yeddyurappa’s allegations as baseless and offered to quit politics if charges are proved. Even if a document (diary seized by IT department from MLC K Govindaraju) against Siddaramaiah does exist with the IT department, an inquiry needs to be conducted on how Yeddyurappa came to know about it. Is he (Yeddyurappa) an official of the IT department? The central government is misusing the IT department and ED to target Congress leaders in Karnataka," Ivan said.

Lashing out at Yeddyurappa, Ivan said, "People of Karnataka will not trust Yeddyurappa against whom 15 cases of corruption have been registered by the Lokayukta. Further, he is also facing trial in many cases registered against him."

Talking about the CD that Congress MLC V S Ugrappa released, Ivan said, "We have many sources within the BJP circle who provide information. CD containing conversation between Yeddyurappa and Union minister H N Ananthkumar confirming kickbacks paid to the BJP high command was obtained through one such source. Many doors, including that of the BJP leader K S Eshwarappa, are the source of information for the Congress." Ivan said that MLC Govindaraju has already moved privilege motion against Yeddyurappa for making baseless allegations and the same will be taken up by the state legislature soon.
