Husband gets 16-years RI for wife suicude

Kasargod, Apr 11, 2015: It is reliably learnt that Kasargod district first additional sessions court on April 10 sentenced a man to 16 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 40,000 in connection with the suicide of his wife.   Balakrishnan (46), of Neeleshwar, was convicted of abetting suicide of his wife Anita (36), an anganwady teacher,  that took place on March 14, 2013.

suicudeBalakrishnan and Anita married in 2007.   Soon after  Balakrishnan started abusing and harassing his wife, a desperate Anita consumed poison on March 14, 2013. She was admitted to hospital and three days later, on March 17, 2013, she passed away.

Police detained husband  Balakrishnan,  investigations brought to light that he was already married six times. He used to marry girls and then disappear with their gold and valuables.  He was tried under several charges including torture, rape, cheating, abetment to suicide and so on. The grave crimes were proved and the court sentenced him to 16 years of rigorous imprisonment.
