Hundreds of women take part in first ever Saree Walk & Run

Mangaluru, August 12, 2018: The first ever Saree Walk & Run organised by the Mangaluru Women’s Run Troupe saw a very enthusiastic response with hundreds of women of all age groups participating in the event with great zest on August 12, Sunday. The  Saree Walk & Run commenced from the Mahatma Gandhi Park at Mannagudda.

Violet Pereira, Proprietor of Mangalorean.com along with local corporator Jayanthi Achar flagged off the unique event. The main objective of this event was to  create an awareness on health and fitness and also to prove that one can exercise  even wearing a saree.

As many as 500 women had turned up for the event and received participation certificates and medals. Prizes were also awarded to the Walk & Run group with maximum participants, slogan on fitness and for the participant dressed in the best traditional saree.
