Huge fish weighing 1,200 kg netted by Malpe fishermen

Malpe, May 12, 2019: A boat from Malpe which had ventured into deep sea fishing has netted a huge fish weighing 1,200 kg. The fish is locally known as Kombu Thorake (Sting Ray).

The boat named Vighnaraja -2 owned by Malpe Kola resident Mithun Kunder had ventured into deep sea fishing from Malpe Port ten days ago. The fish was netted three days ago around 100 feet deep in the sea.

The ten fishermen on board the boat had a tough time in dragging the fish into the boat.  This morning, the fish was lifted through a crane.

The fish was later sold for Rs 60,000 at the rate of Rs 50 per kg to a dry fish trader.
