Housewife dies in compound collapse

Mangaluru, July 08, 2020:   A 49-year-old housewife died on the spot after a compound wall collapsed on her in Parladka, on the outskirts of Puttur town, on Tuesday.

 

Eyewitness told police that the incident took place when Shoba was rolling beedis behind her house. Following incessant rains the 10-ft compound wall of the house, owned by one Farooq, had become weak. The bricks and mud located an elevated ground collapsed on Shoba, who was sitting close to the wall and rolling beedis.

Fire personnel and police who rushed to the spot succeeded in extricating the body of Shoba from the debris.

Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor, MLC Pratapsimha Nayak, Puttur division Assistant Commissioner Yatish Ullal among others visited the spot and consoled the family. MLA Matandoor promised that the government would release a suitable compensation to the family of the victim.
