Horrific accident near Yellapur claims lives of 9 members of family

Karwar, Sep 14,2017 :  A gory mishap  involving a truck and a SUV resulted in the death of nine pilgrims including seven members of a family at Arebail near Yellapur on September 13, Wednesday. All the deceased hailed from Nidagundi in Raibagh taluk of Belagavi district.

 

The pilgrims were  returning from Subrahmanya after participating in a religious ceremony when tragedy struck. Their SUV collided against a parked  truck resulting in the tragedy that snuffed away nine lives including that of  three women and three children. All of them died on the spot. Only one person named Gajanan Bapu Metri(27) survived in the horrific accident and has been admitted to KIMS in Hubballi.

Those killed are Vivek Vasant Ghatge (34), Vaishnavi Vivek Ghatge (5), Abhinay Chandrakant (3), Varadaraj Vivek Ghatge (18 months), Sachin Madhukar Jandenavar (28) , Renuka Chandrakanth Kamble (30), Gouravva Vasant Metri (58),Menaka Vivek Ghatge (28), and driver Mujeeb Iqbal (32).

 The SUV was badly mangled in the mishap.
