Horrific accident claims autorickshaw passenger’s life; driver critical

Kundapur, Dec 15, 2017: An autorickshaw passenger lost his life while the driver sustained critical injuries when a speeding lorry hit the three-wheeler  at Hemmady during the wee hours of December 15, Friday.

 

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Poojary (37) from Soraba. He was on his way to the parental home of his wife at Kannadakudru when tragedy struck.

It is said Ganesh who had travelled from Soraba had  alighted from a  bus at around 2 am  near the Shastri Circle and had boarded an autorickshaw.  He had even spoken to his wife over phone saying he would be there in five minutes. But within a couple of minutes, the lorry  rammed against the auto in front of Hotel Anugraha leaving the vehicle completely  mangled. Locals who  pulled the two out of the vehicle with great difficulty assisted the police in rushing them to hospital. However, Ganesh died  on the way.
