Hore Kanike procession, inter-faith meet held ahead of Stella Maris Church Building inaugural

Udupi, Jan 04, 2018: A Hore Kanike procession was taken out and an inter-religious meet was organised on January 3, Wednesday in connection with the inauguration of the new boat shaped building of the Stella Maris Church of Kalmady  to  be held on January 6.

 

The Hore Kanike Procession was flagged off by Udupi District in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj near the Malpe bus stand.

Offerings for the church inaugural were brought by several organisations of different faiths as well as from devotees from different churches. The colourful procession also featured Chende, tableaux, Huli Vesha and dance troupes.

The inter-faith meet was presided over by Udupi Bishop Fr Gerald Isaac Lobo. Sri Vishwasantosha Bharathi Swamiji of Barkur Mahasamsthanam, Fr Valerian Mendonca, Chancellor of Udupi Diocese,  Mohammad  Yaseen Malpe, President of Udupi District Muslim Okkoota, Fr Alban D’Souza, Parish Priest of  Stella Maris Church addressed the gathering and highlighted the  importance of peace and religious harmony in the society.
