Honeytrap case: Three persons arrested in Uppinangady

Mangaluru, Jan 13, 2020:  The Uppinangady police have arrested three of the seven persons allegedly involved in the honeytrap of a Kerala-based stone quarry operator. According to the police, the victim was looking for labourers to work in his quarry.

A group, under the pretext of offering services of a few labourers, called him to Uppinangady on Friday.

They allegedly forced him to pose in an indecent way with a woman in a room and clicked photographs, and took videos.

Two among the group also posed as a journalist and a policeman and allegedly demanded money for not taking up the case further.

Tip-off

On a tip-off, the police raided the place and rescued the quarry operator, the same day. The police arrested Jalaluddin, 36, of Vitla, Lohit B.B., 32, from Kushalanagar, and Mohammed Sharief, 33, of Vitla.

They are accused of offences under Sections 365 (kidnapping), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 384 (extortion), 419 (cheating by personation) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code.

The police are also searching for the four other accused, who escaped from the place.
