Udupi, April 24, 2020: State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that steps would be taken to install centralized oxygen supply beds in the government hospitals of the district and also to set up virology laboratories.
He said 50 such beds would be provided to the district hospital while taluk hospitals will get five to ten centralized oxygen supply beds.
The Minister was speaking to reporters after holding a meeting of officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The Minister said people from other districts are presently allowed to enter Udupi only for medical reasons and in case of any death. Still more than five people are not allowed. Only if the district is declared a green zone, it would get some relaxations, he said. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the administration towards control of Covid-19.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha, Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs K Raghupathi Bhat, Sunil Kumar, Sukumar Shetty, SP Vishnuvardhan, ZP CEO Preethi Gehlot, Coastal Development Authority Chief Mattaru Ratnaker Hegde , District Health Officer Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda and others.
