Speaking on the occasion, Monappa Bhandary, BJP leader demanded the suspension of the SI Umesh within the next  24 hours failing which the Hindu organisations would intensify their stir.

He alleged that the SI who had summoned Charan to the station had assaulted him for no reason and also was  accusing Charan of being involved in ganja peddling etc.

He further stated that so far no action has followed against the accused SI though the Police Commissioner had  appointed another police officer named Anantha Padmanabha to investigate the case.

Jagadish Shenava, VHP leader in his address, said the Hindu organisations would stage a protest in front of Kavoor police station  if action did not follow against the SI. He also demanded that an FIR should be filed against the SI immediately.

The protestors later handed over a memorandum to  the Mangalore Police Commissioner.
