Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office, he said officials had come in the way of distributing spectacles to the needy by an organisation on Ambedkar Jayanthi Day. Officials also harassed people who have cash with them for wedding, gold purchase or for any other works, he said adding he will complain to the EC as it seemed even the District Magistrate has not taken note of the problem.

On the upcoming  election, he said it was a fight between truth and untruth, dictatorship and  democracy,  divisive forces and forces of unity.  He also exuded confidence that the  Congress would win the upcoming elections  in the state as well as the  Lok Sabha  elections next year.

To a question if he was disappointed over denial of ticket from Moodbidri, Ivan said he had aspired to contest as the sitting MLA Abhayachandra Jain had said he would not contest. But when Abhaya himself said he would contest, there was no  question of disappointment. He also said he was ready to campaign full time in Moodbidri if invited.

Corporator Pratibha Kulai, former mayor Jacintha Alfred   and other leaders were present.
