High Court orders re-investigation in Padmapriya death case

Bangalore, Sep17, 2014: The Karnataka High court ordered a re-investigation of the case of Padmapriya’s death, alleged to have committed suicide in an apartment in New Delhi in 2008.

In an order issued by the high court on Tuesday, September 2014 a re-investigation of the case which includes filing of a fresh charge sheet against the accused.

Padmapriya was the wife of former Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, who had mysteriously found dead in an apartment in New Delhi. The death was presumed to be a suicide.

The verdict comes after Raghupathi Bhat, husband of the deceased, had filed an appeal to the high court against the non-inclusion of serious charges in the charge sheet. Pradeep Kumar, Bhat’s advocate, said that Justice Ananda Byrareddy, High Court Judge ordered for reinvestigation of the case and filing of a fresh charge sheet.

The case was being investigated by CoD officials and a charge sheet was filed in Udupi JMFC court.
