Herbal garden set to be started at Padumale: Minister Rai

Puttur, Oct 28, 2014:   District-in-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai speaking at a meeting to discuss on developing Padumale, at Pravasi Mandir in Puttur on October 26, Sunday; said that the foundation for the work has to be laid at the earliest, as the State government has already released Rs two crore out of Rs five crore, for developing the historical  Padumale.


Ramanath Rai  1A development committee has to be formed at the earliest. He also announced that the forest department will develop a medicinal plants garden in the name of Deyi Baidehi. A sacred lake in Padumale area too will be revived. “Deyi Baidethi was famous for treating people with traditional medicines. It was my personal wish to develop medicinal plants garden at Padumale, hence the department has taken the decision.  It is reported he has directed the committee that has taken up the work of developing Padumale, the birth place of Koti-Chennaiah, to prepare an elaborate blue print and then lay foundation for the work. The work must not delay at any cost after the foundation stone is laid, he said. 

Committee  formation  :   DK D C A B Ibrahim said that Padumale Development Committee will be formed before October 30 and foundation will be laid for the work on November 1. The committee has to submit a detailed report on the plan of action within a month of formation. A deadline of one year has to be set to complete the work. A plan must also be laid for maintaining the place after the work is completed. Caution is a must to avoid any negligence at a later date post development.

MLA Shakunathala Shetty sought the help of the forest department in the setting up process. Various departments should join hands while reviving the ruined village. Participants at the meeting also demanded to develop the road leading to Padumale as it is almost non-existant. The Minister directed the officials to apply to the Tourism minister seeking sanction of  funds  for the purpose.
