Heavy rains continue to lash twin districts

Mangalore, Aug 13, 2011 : The twin districts witnessed heavy rainfall on Aug 12 Friday; however, the rainfall in Kundapur was scanty.

 

 

 

The rains completely destroyed the house of Aisamma of Alake in Puttur on Aug 11 Wednesday, leading to a loss of more than Rs. 1 lakh. Although nobody was injured, essentials such are food, clothes, utensils, and others have been buried underground.

A house in Kotekar Madyar was also damaged, causing a loss of Rs. 1 lakh to Jalajakshi, its owner. A house belonging to Gowri in Yadtady Saibarkatte in Udupi was also damaged in the rain.

U. T. Khader, who visited the house, urged revenue officials to provide relief as early as possible.

The met department has predicted that there will be heavy rains along the coast of Karnataka during the next two days. It has warned fishermen against venturing into the sea for fishing activities.
