Heaviest cargo handling at NMP by ’ Boxco Logistics’

Mangaluru, Nov 05 2019: A firm ’Boxco logistics’  handled the possibly heaviest cargo at New Mangalore Port (NMP) successfully for the first time and loaded the unit in to MV Dong Bang Giant 2.

 

The logistics for the cargo to the port premises from the manufacturing plant was provided by Boxco Logistics, Mangaluru. The vessel is sailing to Apapa Sea Port, Lagos, in Nigeria. President Sunil Shetty, Senior General Manager Sanjay Sarode and Operations Manager Pramod Gawas were present while it was loaded on the vessel.

The 1,290.214 MT column, manufactured at Phils Heavy Engineering Fabricators in Baikampady Industrial Area, is meant for use in a refinery in Nigeria. The bulk-dimension cargo was brought to the port on 56-axle, 448-wheel self-propelling truck to the port premises. The consignment was rolled on to the barge at Berth No 14. The barge was lowered down to the level of the berth using ballast water, after which the 448-wheel entered the barge directly and secured the cargo safely.
