Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Oct 27, 2019: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) with city Medical Colleges, is ensuring that Urban Health Centers(UHCs) extend basic health care to the neglected sections of society in Mangaluru City. Many basic clinics have been functioning in and around the city manned by Medical Colleges. One prominent UHC for more than 10 years is in the heart of Bundar, at Nireshwalia near historic old port.

This UHC frequented by migrant fishing boat, transport labourers,  residents of Bengre and local folk, live a pathetic unhealthy life in unhygienic congested vicinity of Bundar/old port area.   The Bundar UHC is visibly serving their needs to a great extent, otherwise they can not afford medical aid.  This UHC (allopathic & homeopathic) is proved to be well utilized,  the staff extend good medical and humane care and concern to these impoverished simple people.

There is an expressed fear that this UHC is to face closure soon and render lives more painful sans basic health care, it may be a fore runner for closure of other UHCs too.   It is now essential that the concerned authorities, ensure that this UHC is not closed down, but further improved. Closing down such health care facilities for the down trodden must be considered as negative  and in with all concerned support, kept working. The authorities should not close down a facility used well by deserving people of the city.
