Harish Sherigar’s ’March 22’ released, a boost for harmony

Mangaluru, Aug 26, 2017: Harish Sherigar’s debut movie "March 22"   was released in the city at Jyothi theatre on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, August 25, Friday in the presence of Minister U T Khader, MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Sadananda Shetty, Prakash Sherigar and Shrinivas Sherigar.  Dubai-based entrepreneur Harish Sherigar  with a strong message on water conservation and religious unity  hit screens across Karnataka on August 25.

Addressing the gathering, MLA J R Lobo said, "I watched the teaser of ’March 22’ last week during BCF programme at Aloysius Loyola Hall and it has a strong message on water conservation and Hindu-Christian-Muslim unity. It has a valuable message for the society to protect our nature. It also speaks about our Tulu language. Hope it will be a success and unite people irrespective of their religions."

Sadananda Shetty, former president of Bunts Sangha said, "It is a big budget movie which revolves around our culture. I hope this good movie will inspire people with its strong message on unity and will be a blockbuster."

U T Khader said, "March 22 is a meaningful movie. I was present when the trailer was released in Dubai. Renowned entrepreneur B R Shetty has showed his acting skills and the movie has big stars. I hope this message-oriented movie will help all of us live in unity and also conserve water which is a serious issue today."

MLC Ivan D’Souza said, "Let ’March 22’ help socially relevant message reach people."

Actor Sowjanya Hegde, Corporator Ashok, Dr. Devraj K, K V Devadiga, B S Sherigar, Karunakar, Anand Dubai, Sumana Sukumar, K R Shriyan and many other special guests were present on the occasion. Actor Sahil Rai compered.

’March 22’ is a debut movie produced by renowned entrepreneur Harish Sherigar and his wife Sharmila Sherigar under the banner "ACME Movies International." The movie is directed by award-winning director Kodlu Ramakrishna.

Sandalwood big-wigs Anant Nag, Ashish Vidyarthi, Padamashri Dr. B R Shetty, Geetha, Ramesh Bhat, Sadhu Kokila, Jai Jagadish, Vinaya Prasad, Padmaja Rao and Sharat Lohitashwa form the cream of the cast. Newcomers Aryavardhan, Kiran Raj, Meghashree and Deepti Shetty are in the pivotal roles. Other artistes include Kishore, Srujan Rai, Shanta Acharya, Chidanand Acharya from Dubai, Suvarna Sathish and Prashobitha.

Manikanth Kadri and Ravishankar have provided background score where as Basavaraj Urs has edited the movie. Kungfu Chandru has directed the stunts, Mohan M cinematography and Madan Harini dance choreography.

March 22 is commonly known as "World Water Day." But the movie other than propagating the importance of water, is set against the backdrop of a village in North Karnataka where people of all religions live in unity. The movie deals with the issue of water shortage, a message of humanity being greater than religious faith and communal harmony. Indeed it will be a good run specially in the coastal districts.
