Hands-on Workshop on “Age Demystified a forensic insight “

Mangaluru, Nov 17, 2016: The Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology in association with  Interns academic club   organised  a Hands-on workshop on Age demystified- a forensic insight on  16th November 2016 at  Vimasthi Bhavan,  A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences.  Deralakatte, Mangalore.

 
Prof.(Dr.) U.S.Krishna Nayak, Principal and Dean welcomed the gathering and spoke on the uniqueness of the workshop. Prof. (Dr.) N Sridhar Shetty, Founder Dean and Director CADSS Prof.(Dr.)Rajendra Prasad , Director PG Studies , Dr G Subhas Babu, Dr Puspharaj shetty ,Heads of various Departments and  Faculty members were present on the occasion. Dr Ashith B. Acharya Head, Dept of Forensic dentistry S.D.M.college of dental sciences Dharwad  and Prof .( Dr) Mahabalesh  Shetty ,Prof & Head, Dept of Forensic Medicine, K.S.Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte University were  the  eminent  speakers in the field of Forensic Odontology  and Forensic Medicine respectively.

Dr Ashith B. Acharya gave overall insight about forensic dentistry and gave interesting historical background of its origin in India and the Western countries. He also gave very informative lecture on various methods of age estimation. Prof. ( Dr) Mahabalesh Shetty spoke about role of dentist in forensic identification and he stressed the need for better Inter-disciplinary team work. The sessions went on till 12.30 pm.

 Following that, there was Hands on workshop by Dr Ashith B Acharya on age estimation. Nearly 250 delegates from various dental and medical colleges in Karnataka and Kerala attended this useful lecture and hand on workshop.
