HJV leader Jagadish Karanth arrested at Bengaluru Airport

Puttur, Sep 29 2017: Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader Jagadish Karanth  was arrested at the  Bengaluru airport on September 30  on the charges of  delivering a communally provocative speech targeted at Puttur SI Khader. Karanth has been booked for non-bailable offence under Section 153 of the Indian Penal Code  accusing him of  inciting communal hatred, abusing a religion and threatening a government servant.

Earlier, a suo moto case was registered against him by the Puttur police on September 21 after the police watched the  video clipping of the speech delivered by Karanth at a function on September 15.

He is likely to be brought to the town and produced before a magistrate here.
