HJV activists picket Suratkal police station for taking ‘innocents’into custody

Mangalore, Feb 24, 2014:   Activists of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike  picketed the Suratkal police station on February 23, Sunday  opposing the  action of the Suratkal cops who allegedly barged into  houses and  took Hindu youth to custody  in connection with the case of  assault on a Muslim youth at the Suratkal’s Mallamar beach recently.

It may be recalled here that Nisar was brutally thrashed at the beach allegedly by Hindu activists for the reason that he was speaking to a girl of another community.

The protestors alleged that it was wrong on the part of the police to barge into houses at midnight and  arrest innocents.

Ramesh S, Mangalore North unit BJP President said the police were unnecessarily hurling  accusations against Hindu activists.

Corporator Gunashekhar Shetty,  Hindu Jagarana Vedike activists Vasanth Hosabettu, Varun Chowta and others took part in the protest.
