Mangaluru, Oct 12, 2017 : The Karnataka High Court has directed the Mangaluru City Corporation to serve notices to the  massage parlour owners afresh, hear their grievances and then initiate action if necessary.

hc The Court issued the above directive while  disposing off an application filed by  owners of six massage parlours in Mangaluru  questioning the MCC action of cancelling their licences on the grounds that illegal activities were behind undertaken there.

The case came up before the single judge bench on October 11, Wednesday. Pointing out to the MCC contention that women were massaging men in some of the raided massage parlours,  the Court  questioned if there was any specific law which bans such an act.

"Legal action should be taken only after  verifying that illegal activities were underway. The mere reason that women provide treatment  to men at the Ayurveda treatment centres, does not mean illegal activities are underway. The centres have experienced Ayurveda therapists," contended advocate for the petitioners Rajaram  Sooryambail.
