Gurupur, Ulaibettu observing bundh; 2 buses among 3 vehicles damaged in stoning

Mangalore, Dec 9, 2014 : At least three vehicles including two buses were damaged in stone pelting incidents during the  bandh  being observed at Gurupur, Ulaibettu and other nearby areas in the outskirts of the city on December 8, Monday  to protest against the attack on Datta Peetha  pilgrims on December 5 night at Ulaibettu.

If a Rajahamsa bus was damaged due to stoning by miscreants at Yedapadavu, another bus named Fathima too was damaged. Even a government truck which had come from Bengaluru which was parked  was stoned. The driver Joy sustained injuries. The police have have imposed ban orders under Section 144 in some sensitive areas which are observing a bundh upto 6 pm today. Security has also been stepped up.

 In another incident miscreants made a vain attempt to set ablaze a bakery. One could see tyres burnt on the road at Kaikamba and other places. Almost all shops in Gurupur, Ulaibettu, Vamanjoor and nearby areas too have downed their shutters.
