Group assault medics and damage hospital

Mangaluru, April 4, 2015 : As per reliable reports, a  group of over 20 persons are accused of assaulting three doctors and damaging the door of the ICU - intensive care unit of a private hospital. This happened  while taking away a road accident victim from the hospital to another hospital.

According to the complaint, Tamim Iqbal and Zakir,  two 15-year-old boys who were injured in a road accident in Manjanady on March 31, were brought to the K.S. Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) and they were in the intensive care unit.

A large group of persons barged into the ICU, had arguments with hospital personnel and doctors and forcefully took Zakir out of the ICU. In the process they wantonly damaged the door of the ICU.   After putting Zakir into an ambulance, the group assaulted others too.

The group took away Zakir to a private hospital at the Bhagwan Mahavir Junction. Zakir died in the hospital on the same night, while Tamim Iqbal succumbed to his injuries in KSHEMA.  A complaint was filed at the Ullal police station and investigations are in progress.
