Grievances of bus passengers, operators will be resolved in two months : DC

Mangaluru Sep 21, 2016: Deputy Commissioner Dr KG Jagadeesh  has assured to resolve all grievances of bus owners and passengers in next two months and urged people to be patient  until the grievances are resolved.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Addressing  the RTA grievance  redressal meeting at DC office on September 21, Wednesday, he said that major issues of bus owners and passengers are looked into and  assured to respond to the grievances and the memoranda by next RTA meeting.

He also said that all the queries from urban and rural public will be considered. People’s perception regarding the service of private buses should be changed and more importantly  bus owners should believe in serving people rather than making profit, he added.

17 JnNURM buses were issued permits couple of months back as the private bus owners have approached high court against the modification of DM notification for issuing the permits to ply KSRTC buses from Statebank terminus and the High Court has stayed the order. After seeking the legal opinion on the stay order, the future action will be taken on JnNURM Buses, he added.

Several demands and suggestions were raised during the meeting with regard to private and public transport. Many representatives submitted memoranda to the DC with their own requests and suggestions to add new buses.

Environmentalist and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary BS Hasanabba Ammembal handed over memorandum to DC demanding for buses to ply via Mangalore University at Konaje, so that students will be benefited. 

Representatives pointed out at the traffic chaos from Hampankatta to Kankanady as several vehicles  are  seen parked on the wrong side thereby obstructing traffic.

Also private buses do not take up their last trip making it difficult for people coming from interior places to reach their destinations.


Representatives blamed private bus drivers for rash driving and using ear deafening horns. They also demanded  steps to install  first aid boxes in buses and to ensure that senior citizens’ seats are not occupied by others.

Superintendent of Police Bhushan Borase, RTO Officer GS Hegde and others were present.
