Mangaluru, Dec 22, 2017 : The 10-day annual Karavali Utsav began with a grand procession highlighting the culture of Tulunadu. The procession started its journey from Nehru Maidan passing through Clock Tower, Hampankatta, K.S. Rao Road, Navabharat Circle, P.V.S Circle, M.G. Road and Lalbagh.
The Karavali utsav began with a long procession of artistes and tableaux showcasing the culture of the State and Tulunadu. The occassion was flagged off by Food and Civil Supplies Minister U.T. Khader at 3 p.m. As many as 80 teams including Chande players, Dollu Kunita team, Mahila Veeragase team from Chikkamgaluru, Jaggali Mela from Dharwad, Somankunita team from Tumakuru, Suggi Kunita team from Karwar, Huli Vesha teams and Shanka Dasaru and folk artistes from different parts of the State took part in the procession.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the District in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai and Karavali Ustav by Actor Prakash Raj. The festivities to conclude with the beach utsav at Panambur beach on December 30 and 31.
MLA Mohiudeen Bava, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, ADC Kumar, Zilla panchayat CEO Dr M R Ravi, MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazeer and others were present.
