Udupi, July 19, 2018: Deputy Chief Minister and State Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara has said that the Government would order a probe into the case of death of Shiroor Mutt seer Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji who died of suspected food poisoning on Thursday morning.
The Deputy CM said the probe was necessitated as the followers of the seer have raised questions over his sudden death.
Even the seer’s advocate Ravikiran Murdeshwar has stated that Lakshmivara Theertha had told him that his life was under threat. He demanded an impartial probe into the death of the seer and added that the seer had asked him to file criminal cases against six of the Ashta Mutt seers over the Pattada Devaru issue.
Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji who was known for his candid statements had also been a controversial figure. He even hit headlines when he had filed his nomination as independent candidate for the recent assembly elections . However, he had later withdrawn his nomination.
