Mangaluru, July 29, 2015: State Minister for Kannada and Culture Umashree has informed that the government would soon announce a new scheme to revive the Kannada amateur theatre which is on the decline.
She said so while interacting with a delegation comprising Kasargod Chinna, former president of Konkani Sahitya Academy, VH Pal, former member of Karnataka Nataka Academy, Shashiraj Rao Kavoor, advocate and dramatist, Suhas Rao, Organiser and Nitin Pal, art patron.
The minister also responded positively to a demand placed forth by Kasargod Chinna to organise a state level drama workshop for women. She also felt the need to stage plays which revolve around women and child highlight local problems.
VG Pal and Shashiraj Rao Kavoor also explained to the minister the proposed Ranga Mandir project in DK which is in the limbo.
Ramamurthi, Secretary of the Kannada And Culture Department, KA Dayananda and others were present.
