Mangaluru, Feb 5, 2015 : Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurupur Vajradehi Mutt, has charged the state government of playing spoilsport for the Hindu Samajotsava to be held in Bengaluru by banning the entry of VHP leader Praveen Togadia to the capital.
Speaking to reporters at the VHP office here on February 4, Wednesday, the seer claimed that such conventions organised to commemorate the golden jubilee of VHP aim at uniting the Hindu community. He also charged the government of pursuing double standards on the issue.
The seer also recalled a 2003 incident wherein the government which had banned Togadia from entering the state had to lift the ban when the High Court stayed the government order.
Showering praises on Togadia, the Gurupur seer said “ Praveen Togadia is a famous doctor and will not hurt other communities and never intends to harm other communities.”
When his attention was drawn towards the reported provocative speeches made by some speakers at the recently held Hindu Sangama at Puttur, the seer said as far as he knows nothing has been told that will hurt other communities.
He also clarified that he was a strong believer in Hinduism. “ I am not a Hindu extremist,” he asserted.
Hindu leaders Jagadish Shenava, Sharan Pumpwell and many others were present at the press meet.
