Kundapur, March 01, 2015:  Hindu Jagarana Vedike’s State Convenor Jagadish Karanth has strongly felt that there would have been no communal disturbances in Shivamogga recently in the aftermath of a PFI  convention, had the law keeping authorities shown the same amount of enthusiasm  it shows in placing restrictions on  Hindu programmes.

The Vedike leader was  addressing a Virat Hindu Sangama organised by the local unit of the Vedike at the Pre-University College grounds at Gangolli  on February 28, Saturday.

Continuing, Karanth described Hinduism as the  soul of the nation and alleged that the situation at present is such that the Hindu  community  is  finding it difficult to even hold religious programmes.

On banning  the entry of Praveen Togadia to the recent Hindu convention at Bengaluru, Karanth said the decision was taken by the state government  and not the Police Department.

The function was presided over by Kotwal Padmanabha Sheregar, an entrepreneur from Bellary. Reshma Kharvi, Gangolli Gram Panchayat President, Govindaraya Sheregar, President of the Gangolli unit of the Vedike  and others were present.

Prior to the programme a procession was also taken out from the Sri Rama Mandir in the town to the Veereshwara Temple.

The Police Department had made unprecedented security arrangements for the event, more so particularly because Gangolli is a communally sensitive town.
