Govt has ordered probe into Forest Dept. recruitment scam : Minister Rai

Mangaluru, Feb 12, 2015:  DK District in-charge Minister and State Forest Minister B Ramanatha Rai has informed the Legislative Council that a departmental inquiry has been instituted to look into the allegations  of flouting of rules while making recruitments to the Department of Forests.

The Minister said so in reply to a query raised by BJP member Arun Shahapur in the Legislative Council on February 11, Wednesday. Rai said the Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Forests will conduct the investigation   and added that he has been asked to submit the investigation report in six months.

He also stated that so far two persons including an administrative officer and manager have been suspended in connection with the charges.

MLC Arun Shahapur while stating that there had been irregularities to the tune of several crores of rupees demanded that the case be handed over to the Lokayukta.

When BJP leader KS Eshwarappa alleged that senior officers were shielded while only sub-ordinates faced action, Forest Minister Rai firmly stated that there was no question of shielding anyone who has erred.
