Government’s sand mining policy faulty, criticizes Khader

Mangalore, Sep 18: Addressing reporters at a press meet held yesterday, MLA U. T. Khader said that DK needs a separate sand mining policy, adding that only a region-specific sand mining policy will satisfy the requirements of the local people. 

He also stated that the state government’s faulty sand mining policy is responsible for the hike in sand prices. 

He also said that the amendments approved by the government for DK, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada have still not been brought into effect. 

He stated that people of the coastal regions, who follow the manual and traditional methods of sand extraction, are now forced to pay much more than the actual value of sand.
