Mangalore, May 23, 2012  : The state government has deleted the names of a few Endosulfan victims from Patrame, Kokkada, and Nidle, as a result of which these physically challenged people are no longer receiving their allowance. This is a terrible blow to these families, which depend entirely on the government allowance.

end sulfan 1The 10 to 15 beneficiaries whose names have been struck off the list have not received their monthly allowance for the past 11 months. Since they were depending on this allowance, they are now in a helpless condition.

They have complained about it, but the officials informed them that their applications were not in order. The beneficiaries are now afraid that they will lose all the facilities they receive from the government. All these beneficiaries belong to below poverty line (BPL) families.

Kusuma Kumari, tahsildar for Belthangady, said that her office has compiled a list of beneficiaries whose names were struck off the list and sent it to the DC’s office for approval. She assured that her office will do everything possible to make sure that the beneficiaries get their allowance.

Shridhar Gowda, president of the Endosulfan Santhrastara Horata Samithi, said that the samithi will protest if the authorities fail to solve the problem at the earliest possible.
