Government approves textile park project at Karkala: Udupi DC

Udupi, August 15, 2020: The 74th Independence Day was celebrated at the Ajjarkad district stadium on Saturday on behalf of the district administration. Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh hoisted the national tricolour and received the guard of honour.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said the government has given its approval for the setting up of a textile park at Karkala.

The government has also approved the Hejamady Fisheries Port Project at a cost of Rs 180.84 crores, he said adding the project works would commence soon.

He said a sum of Rs 160.81 lakh has been distributed as compensation towards rehabilitation  under Rajeev Gandhi Housing Corporation to 557 people who lost houses during last year’s floods.

Corona warriors including doctors, lab technicians, health assistants and ASHA workers were felicitated on the occasion.

District Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhan, ZP CEO Preethi Gehlot, Coastal Security Police SP R Chethan, Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, ZP Chief Dinaker Babu and others were present.
