Goods train derails at Nandikur, now restored

Padubidri, June 18, 2018: A goods train with 50 wagons, transporting rice  from Muktsar in Punjab to Maddur in Karnataka, derailed near Nadikur railway station near Padubidri on June 17, Sunday.

The Engine and two other compartments went off-the-track at Nandikur goods railway station. No casualties were reported.

“The compartments got derailed at the converging point of the tracks,” said Sudha Krishnamurthy, PRO, Konkan Railway Mangaluru Division.

The technical staff from Mangaluru and Udupi division of Konkan Railway restored the compartments after a 10-hour operation. The train moved further at 7 pm. The movement of other trains
remained unaffected.
