Mangaluru, Mar 05, 2019: The customs officials have arrested three persons at the Mangaluru International AIrport and have seized 549.98 grams of gold worth Rs 19.14 lakh and foreign currency worth Rs 18.10 lakh in three separate cases.
In the first case, a passenger who was supposed to fly to Dubai was intercepted and arrested after Rs 18.10 lakh worth foreign currency including USD, Omani Riyals, Kuwaiti Dinar and Euro were found hidden in between clothes in his luggage.
In another case, a person who arrived from Dubai by an Air India flight was arrested for possessing 232.62 grams of 24 carat gold worth Rs 7.68 lakh. The gold was hidden in a round plate with silver coating which was found in a cooker.
In the third case, 317.36 grams of 24 Carat gold in powder form which a passenger from Dubai had hidden in his rectum, has been seized.
