Gold concealed in rectum of an air passenger seized in Mangalore Airport

Mangaluru, Feb 3, 2015: Acting on intelligence, officers of Directorate Of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Mangalore have busted another modus operandi of gold smuggling at Mangalore International Airport and seized five gold bars totally weighing 583 gms valued at Rs. 16.33 lakhs concealed in the rectum of a passenger named Kanimkundil Mohammed Sameer of Udma, Kasargode District, a resident of Udma in Kasargode District, who arrived from Dubai by Air India Express flight AI 814 on Tuesday, Feb 3.

 

Gold smuggling in rectum of passenger in Mangalore


Since the intelligence had indicated that he has concealed gold biscuits inside his body/rectum he was produced before the Court seeking permission to screen his body for detection of the gold biscuits. He was screened by the authorities of Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore which indicated concealment of metal pieces in his rectum.

Thereafter detailed examination of his body resulted in the recovery and seizure of five gold biscuits totally weighing 583.gms. valued about Rs.16,33,520. Investigation indicates that K. M. Sameer is a part of a smuggling gang operating between Kasargode in Kerala and Dubai (UAE).

Further investigation is in progress. In the operation the officials of Customs department posted at Mangalore International Airport also assisted in the anti smuggling operation.
