Girl student faints after abuse by Head Mistress for speaking out

Mangaluru, Dec 1, 2016: children always sem to speak the truth, an eighth class girl had to face the wrath of her head mistress for having uttered the truth about the mid-day meals provided at the school premises. A student of  Balthila Neerapade ZP Higher Primary School complained regarding the food being provided to the students at a Grama Sabha meeting held for school students were they were asked to raise any problems being faced by them.

The girl pointed out that while earlier the school was providing food properly with curds, Chithranna and vegetables, this year they were being served only rice and sambhar without any vegetables. Hence, the students were not taking the free meals.  The officials left the meeting after warning the head mistress to take measures to improve the quality of mid day meals in future.

Once the officials left the school premises the head mistress took the girl to task. It is also gathered that she abused the student using foul language. Scared by the rage of the headmistress, the girl collapsed out of fear and other teachers had to come to her aid to help her regain consciousness. On hearing about the incident, the SDMC members rushed to the spot and protested against the behaviour of the head mistress. The villagers urged the Block education Officer (BEO) to take action against the Head Mistress immediately.
