Gangolli tense after incident of fire in shops

Kundapur, Nov 30, 2014: Gangolli village in Kundapur taluk was gripped by tense atmosphere after six shops were damaged in fire on November 29,  Saturday.  According to the police, the fire began at 1.30 p.m. A paint shop and a garment shop were damaged badly, while damage on four other shops was lesser. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

 

Gangolli communal clash


A couple of days ago, Gangolli had witnessed a clash between two groups of youth from different communities.

P.M. Diwakar, Kundapur Circle Inspector, informed media that the cause for the fire was not yet known and that members of one community suspected those from another community to be behind the mishap.

P. Rajendra Prasad, Superintendent of Police, said that the shutters of the paint shop, where the fire was noticed, were locked from outside and had no ventilation. “It is only after an investigation by forensic experts that the exact cause can be ascertained,” he said.   Forensic experts from Mangaluru reached Gangolli and examined the spot. Amrit Paul, IGP (Western Range) said that they were conducting tests. In the meanwhile situation is absolutely peaceful it is reported.
