Gang rape of minor: Duo gets 20 years RI

Udupi, Nov 27, 2019:  The District Special Court Judge C M Joshi has passed a judgement sentencing two persons to 20 years rigorous imprisonment in the case of gang rape of a  minor girl   on the outskirts of the city in 2016. Padam Singh Seni (28) and Mukesh Seni (20), both tiles workers of Rajasthan origin are the convicts in this case.

 

The incident was reported on June 8, 2016. When the girl was alone in her house that day the duo forcibly took her to a rented house at Badagabettu where they raped her. Later they had dropped her home after duly warning her of dire consequences if she divulged the matter before anyone. A complaint was lodged in this regard on June 10, 2016. The  Udupi police who had arrested the duo had filed a charge sheet on September 20 the same year.  Out of the total 34 witnesses, 21 witnesses  were heard by the court on behalf of the prosecution.

The court has also imposed a total fine of Rs 60,000 on the duo for gang rape, kidnapping  and  threatening. They will have to undergo additional imprisonment if they fail to pay the fine amount.
