Gang brutally assault Ira Gram Panchayat President

Bantwal, Dec 1, 2019: A gang of assailants have  made an attempt to eliminate Ira Gram Panchayat President Abdul Razak Kukkaje by brutally assaulting him while he  was at a clinic at Manchikatte on Saturday night.

As Abdul Razak was unwell he had been to Shafi Clinic at Manchikatte in Manchi village when the  assailants barged into the clinic and attacked him with swords and sticks. The assailants had come by a  vehicle.

Razak meanwhile rushed inside the clinic and saved himsef, However, he has suffered grievous injuries in his hands. The assailants  fled the scene as locals gathered at the spot.

Razak has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. The miscreants had even damaged the  window panes of the clinic.

It is suspected that some personal reasons  were responsible for the attack. Sources said Razak who  had a hint of a likely  attack had even informed the police. However the police had not taken it seriousl, say locals.

Razak is said to be a close associate of former minister UT Khader. He  was elected GP chief for the second time.
