Gadkari to flag off Phase II of Shiradi Ghat on March 28

Mangaluru, Mar 27, 2016: The Phase II work of Shiradi Ghat that connects State capital Bengaluru with the coastal Karnataka will again start on Monday, March 28. 


Nitin Gadkari ..Minister for Road and Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone for the work, which also includes fourlaning of BC-Road to Shiradi as well as a stretch from Sakleshpur to Hassan.Shiradi Ghat repair work is being undertaken at the cost of Rs 155.18 crore.   The road has one of the highest vehicular density with 20,000 passenger car units (PCUS) per day. Once the four-laning is done, time travel will be cut down to 6 hours from the present 8 hours.


Tunnel road : Gadkari, during his last visit to Mangaluru in December last year, had stated that the work on the proposed Rs 12,000 cr,  29-km tunnel route on the Shiradi Ghat will begin by December this year. The Detailed Project Report and the final feasibility report of this project that comprises of six tunnels and 10 bridges will be submitted to the central government by May 2016.  So, all you road travelers brace up for delays.
