Fun swim turns tragic : College student drowns in Netravathi

Bantwal, Oct 13, 2015 : A 17 year old youth met a watery grave in the Netravathi River at Kaikunja near BC Road on October 12, Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Akbar, son of Hameed of Nandavar.

He  had reportedly gone to the river to  have a bath along with his brother and friends when tragedy struck.

He was a  first year  Commerce Student at Adarsh College at BC Road. It is said he was washed away by strong currents, while swimming, Though others along with him tried to save him it was of no use.

Search for the body of Akbar by fire service personnel has not yielded any result until now.
