Frustrated man stabs lover; ends life in Padubidri

Udupi, Dec 17, 2014: In an incident that shocked the town of Padubidri, a man reportedly stabbed to death his lover and later ended his life by hanging himself on December 17, Wednesday.

The deceased are Naveen Devadiga (40) and Tara Devadiga(38). The two were found dead in an old building opposite the Corporation Bank in Padubidri.

If Naveen was a tempo driver, Tara worked in a supermarket. Tara was a widow and Naveen was a divorcee.  Both of them had children from their first marriage. Though the two were in love, Tara’s parents had refused to give him in marriage  when he had sought their permission recently.

This is learnt to have frustrated Naveen who chose the extreme step

Senior police officials including SP Rajendra Prasad visited the spot. A case has been registered by Padubidri police.
