Friends turn foes : Youth stabbed in a bar at Kaup

Udupi,Sep 25, 2015  : In a queer incident two friends who had been to a bar  engaged in a brawl culminating in one of them stabbing the other at Kaup on September 23, Wednesday night. It has been gathered that a comment passed by one of them about the wife of the other resulted in the stabbing.

 

The injured person Hemanth Poojary (37) from Yermal, while the accused  is his friend Narayan Jogi (40).

It is said both friends  were enjoying their drink while discussing various issues . When the conversation turned to family matters, Hemanth Poojary who was deeply under the influence of alcohol  mentioned the name of Jogi’s wife in a way that was not acceptable to the latter.

Jogi immediately took out a knife which he had and stabbed Hemanth in his neck.

Interestingly, Jogi took a bleeding Hemanth to the police station to confess his crime and also the reason for it.  Meanwhile, as the police were busy taking Hemanth to the hospital, Jogi quietly gave them a slip. He was later arrested.

Hemanth is said to be out of danger. Investigations are in progress.
